Just curious what everyone thinks...
Referring to when you get dropped in a race, I have heard "shelled out the back", but also "he got shelved" (as in you are put away)... got me wondering if both are accepted terms in cycling lexicon or if one is a misinterpretation(like incorrect song lyrics) of the other, and if so which is correct? PS, this is just for referring to others as it has never personally happened to me ![]() |

"Shelled" as in the military artillery term for getting blown up. If it hasn't happened to you, then you ain't riding with strong enough riders. There is always someone stromnger and everyone will ventually have a bad race and get shelled off the back.

I was kidding about it never happening to me... has anyone else ever heard he was shelved? Shelled makes more sense in this context I guess. |

It's definitely "shelled".
"Shelved" is what happens to crap TV shows... |

Shelled as in peanuts where you throw away the worthless parts and keep the good parts. |

It still makes more sense than hearing the play-by-play of BMX half-pipe competitions . . .
