Default Feet Cramps...Help Needed!!

Hello One and All,

I have a set of Specialized set of shoes that I have been using for a couple years now. This year I have been experiencing alot of cramping in my feet. My big problem is the big toe which just cramps all the way through my calve. It can charlie horse on some days like you will not believe. On my ride from NY to Baltimore after the first day it started to cramp and so could not get any sleep. I try stretching and stretching and stretching than massages but even during massages I can cramp up!!

I believe it may be the way I ride or spin because I put too much pressure on my feet by not relaxing my feet when I ride.

I also think it may be from a broken ankle I got years ago where I still have the plates.

If anyone suffers from it and has any suggestion that may work I am willing to try.

Two things to try. I have SIDI Mega Genius shoes - because I have a double E fitting. WHen I got fitted he just gave me those and said "don't even bother looking at any others" - because other shoes bend the arch in an arc across the ball of the foot [right where the pedal goes....!] No other shoe is as wide for cycling - and they fit me great.

My old specialised MTB shoes now feel like foot binding - tho I rode in them for years with not a clue as to how they hurt!

Also - you can get custom orthotics - they are expensive [like $500] but the guy that did my wifes is a cyclist, and he does custome Carbon Fibre orthotics for cyclists. I have little tiny wedges under my cleats to correct the fact that my feet roll out. I am going to look into orthotics - because I have had a lot of $500s in my life, but only one set of feet and knees......

Anyway - shoe width, orthotics and cleeat wedges are all possibilities.
