Just wondering anyone try this wheel set before?? Is it a good pick if i am on budget and couldn't afford those $800 or $1000 wheels???

Sure, actually it's not a secret at all, I just call all the dealers on the dealer list, and Australian Cycle Company on the Anzac Parade (Kensington NSW) is the cheapest one. $395 each set including fitting & gearing adjustment.

Normally the dealers are quoting me around $450 per set plus labour for the fitting. ($20 to $60 depending on which dealers, quite a big rip off on the labour) RRP for the wheelset is $499

It is a fairly new wheel set from the Aust importer as well, and they don't even have that information on their latest catalogs for their dealers, so most of the dealers (almost 70%) don't even know the existance of this wheel set.

I will try to write something like a review on the wheelset later on, ready to pick up I on Wed or Thu.

Finally got the wheelset on yesterday after work.

Can't resist to go for a sprint with my friend even it is all dark out there.

The wheel quality is amazing! pretty much the same weight as Dura Ace wheel.

Very stiff for sprinting and light for acceleration.

I will try to post more review later on after I go for a few more rides.

So far my comment is this R28 Aero is a big bang for the buck!!!

Nothing even come close with that price tag and you definitely need to pay for at least $900+ for a wheelset with similar build on other brand.

OK here we come a brief report after a lazy week

I went for a test ride on Thursday night after I got the R28 Aero. I find that the characteristic of the wheel is:
- Stiff for sprinting
- Light for acceleration

I have a feeling the average speed is increased for 2km/h comparing to my old Shimano R500 wheels. R28 just blow the Shimano into dust, nothing even come close.


And I went for another "main test run" yesterday on the M7 cycle path, if you went there before, you will know that there are a few long climbs there. I am amazed and shocked by the performance of the wheel on climbs!!! I can only have around 15km/h on those climbs with the Shimano, but with the R28 I can have around 20+km/h on the climbs! I mean it! I don't think my ability can have such a big jump within a week. That's definitely the wheel.

And to test out the "aero factor" of the R28, I try to stop pedalling on the top of the climbs and just let the bike go downhill by itself. I am in the full aero tuck position. You have to prepare for a big surprise now I start go downhill from 20km/h but when I reach the bottom i am in 50+km/h!!!!! That's a record on that small downhill section WITHOUT any single pedalling was done. Also the wheel is so stable with the speed, I can leaning for all corners with any worries.

I can only have around 39km/h with Shimano on the same downhill section if I pedalling hard enough!!! To be honest, shame on the R500.


I will keep update here for some long term review later on. I will went for the cook river ride in this morning to test out the flat road performance on this wheel today.


So far, both myself and my friend (we get two set of R28) agree that R28 is the smartest part and money we've spend on the bike so far!!! remember it is just A$395 and definitely NO wheels come close to this performance around the same price tage, and the performance and weight is beating those $900+ wheelset without a doubt!

It's alright, my pleasure Happy to let more people know about the good wheelset and more options rather than stick with the expensive brand name.

o, btw, did I mention the packaging of the wheelset when it is arrived?

It was well protected and nicely packed in a huge Neuvation box, coming with 4 spare spokes, but I doubt that I ever need to use the spares at all. Anyway it's a bonus and it tells how Neuvation taking care about their customer. The wheel is perfectly true when it first coming out of the box, not adjustment required at all.

I have a few communications with the owner John over Neuvation, quite impressed by his attitude towards customer service. Definitely one of the best customer service I’ve ever encountered with.

Just a reminder for the new kids out there: aerodynamic section rims (deeper than 38mm) will win you 12sec over a 40km course at time trial speeds of 40-50km/h. At lower speed, they win you less time. At less than 35km/h, they probably buy you no time at all. If they are shallower than 38mm, they have not been shown to buy you any time saving over standard rims.
Keep things in perspective before you rush out to put your stock cheapo wheels in the skip...
