Default New to Forum... Sydney bike shops who stock specialized.

Hey everyone...

my friends have convinced me to do the spring cycle this year, so i have dusted off the Gary Fisher MTB and am doing some small rides to get used to it. i havent riden for years as i lost the urge, but it has bitten me once again.... went and did a few laps of centenial park on the MTB and decided i need a road bike.

so did some research and i quite like the 2006 specialized roubiax comp. i have sourced one but trying to see if there are any shops that have one that may do a better deal for me.... problem is i think they may be scarce supply so i may have to pay full retail

can you guys advise if you know of any bike shops that stock specialised. i have been to woolys wheels and the one in cronulla....

thanks guys..... look forward to being part of the little community, maybe even see you one day on a track.

Try the Concept store in Melbourne and check out their website. They will even fly you down to fit if you spend over $3K. I think they are taking offers on various bikes.

Otherwise my mate bought a Specialized MTB in Burwood not sure if they do Roadies. Just put "specialized bikes" in an Au search engine and you get a bunch of hits. I searched around abit before I bought my MTB if you know what you want you can get it cheaper. I got mine shipped from VIC to Sydney and saved $600 plus on the one I wanted.

I think there may even be a store/dealer locator on the specialized website.

Goodluck!

.

Try the one over Chatswood, on the intersaction of Delhi Road and Pacific Highway. They are one of the biggest specialised retailer in Sydney.

what I usually do is call the distributor and ask them where to find what I want.

You need to turn the equation around and makes it as if you are compromising and clearing their old stock for their benefit. In other words, you need to find some fault in that model and compare it with another bike model that you'll take instead,

1) From the same shop but significantly cheaper. (In which case they'll want to upsell you a more expensive bike)
2) From another shop at a similar or slightly cheaper price. (In which case they'll want to keep your $3.5k)

So be prepared to say no to the store and walk out. Give suggestions that you can't decide and may put it off and will check another store.

Oh, another good one is to play the time factor. For full price, you'll have time to burn and will wait for the 2007 model to arrive in a few weeks. There should be enough info on what 2007 model's specs are and start talking to the store on at least matching the overall value of a 2007 model, or give a discount.

But if you've decided that ONE has to be the one and only and you have to have it NOW, then the store can eat you for breakfast. You only have yourself to blame for lack of patience.

You could also try giving JT cycles in Adelaide a call. I got a good deal from them last year on a Roubaix Comp. They claim to send quite a few around the country.

Need? or Want?

Not meaning to talk you out of it or anything, but you can get some of the speed improvements with slick tyres, and a little bit of riding.

Having said that, I do understand the want for a roadie... I lusted after one for a few months before I gave in to the urge and bought one, having come from an MTB background.

Forgot to mention - Specialized bikes are carried by Bike Barn Liverpool. It's a small bike shop, so won't have everything in, but the guy who owns the place bends over backwards to help you out.

Worth a drive if you don't have any luck elsewhere.

HTH,
