Default All around tubeless tires

I am just starting out and got the Kenda Blue Groove tubless tires. Mainly because that is what the store had for free for my new bike. They highly recommended it to eliminate pinch flats and flats from all the thorns out here. After reading several reviews on it, they are said to have problems.

There were so many tire selections I was starting to get overwhelmed. I am looking for a general xc tubeless tire that runs around $30-$40. Possible $50 if it does not wear out too fast.

So far I have ridden trails full of gravel. I have had the bike slip from under me and tires spin out but not sure if it is the tires, terrain, or my lack of skill (probably the latter).
