Veteran Sue Palmer-Komar (Hamilton, ON), who announced she is retiring from competitive cycling, said "It’s my best worlds in years!", in reference to the great team spirit among Canadian women.
Here are the result of that great spirit: "Sue Palmer-Komar (Hamilton, ON) ranked 75th, Leigh Hobson (Waterloo, ON) 90th and Amy Moore (Georgetown, ON) did not finish the race." THE WORST RESULTS IN WOMEN'S ROAD RACING IN CANADIAN HISTORY.... SKIP THE SPIRIT SUE AND FIND THE RESULTS....... In the elite women’s 132-km road race, the two top Canadians have been younger hopefuls Wrubleski and Willock. Alex Wrubleski (Regina, SK) succeeded in crossing the finish line among the breakaway, finishing 23rd, at 2:07 from new World Champion, Netherlands’ Marianne Vos. Team mate Erinne Willock(Victoria, BC) arrived in the same leading group in the same time, and placed 37th. Second and third positions went to Germany’s Trixi Worrack and Great Britain’s Nicole Cooke. CANADIAN WOMEN USED TO LEAD THE BREAKS, NOT JUST BE GLAD ABOUT SITTING IN THEM. Anne Samplonius (Montreal, QC), who took a 20th place in the time trial event Wednesday, enjoyed agreat start as she attacked at the end of the second lap, escaping with Russia's Natalia Boyarskaya. "I did almost all the work at the front. It’s too bad she did not cooperate, because results would have been different for sure," commented Samplonius, who ended in 53rd position with the third group of riders. Sue Palmer-Komar (Hamilton, ON) ranked 75th, Leigh Hobson (Waterloo, ON) 90th and Amy Moore (Georgetown, ON) did not finish the race. THIS IS THE LEGACY OF FORMER CCA PRESIDENT BILL KINASH. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FILL THE KEYS SPOTS IN THE NATIONAL ASSOCIATION WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE ZERO CYCLING EXPERIENCE. THE SPORT IS IN THE WORST SHAPE IN ITS ENTIRE HISTORY IN CANADA. NEVER HAVE RESULTS BEEN SO POOR AND THE FUTURE EVEN BLEAKER. |

Just when you thought it was too good to be true, it was.
Sue Palmer-Komar will NOT be retiring after all. Sue informed us, "I won't be winning races so much, I don't think, but I can help Tina (Pic) win her races - I love leading her out; because you know she isn't going to let you down, she will win. I realized that I miss the girls on the team, and that I love being a part of that." There's a friggin' shocker! Sue won't be winning many races. What's new? Here is another revelation, "I want to learn more about it (managing), because as a rider you take it for granted, and I know there is so much involved. I want to look at opportunities in coaching as well (Palmer-Komar holds a degree in Exercise Physiology)." "There is so much more involved in managing." Really! Daaah..... Palmer-Komar racing tactics: use the biggest gear you possibly can, grind it out at very slow cadence at the most inopportune times of the race, be in front when it doesn't matter and get passed near the line, then proclaim you had great spirit out there...... Yup, that's what you want to be teaching up and coming young riders. Cycling in Canada is doomed. October 25/06 9:30 am EDT - Sue Palmer-Komar Confirms Plans to Continue Racing Posted by Editor on 10/25/06.
A Chat with Sue Palmer-Komar At the Road Worlds last month in Salzburg, Sue Palmer-Komar indicated that this would probably be her last year at such an elite level. This seemed to be confirmed when Colavita/Sutter Home p/b Cooking Light announced their 2007 team and Palmer-Komar was missing from the roster. However, it turns out that this was just while Palmer-Komar sorted out her plans for the next season, which do include returning to the squad on a flexible program. "They didn't put my name on the team (when they announced the 2007 squad) because I hadn't signed with them yet. After some time at home I felt like I wanted to ride next year, but at the same time move into coaching and managing. The team is really good, and allowing me to do that." |

Awww, shucks we should all touchy-feely and finished last, right? As long as everybody has a great spirit.
Gee, let's have transsexuals represent Canada as women, that's politically correct and the best we can do. Actually having transsexuals represent Canda is not a big leap for the CCA since nobody there has any balls either. Nobody every won a bike race by being "nice". Keep your eye on the prize. |

My point Ed is really that you are belittling people in public. And what really irks me is that you were booted out of cycling forums, so you signed up right after as "Fausto'. You were booted off for a reason. If you want to come back, at least "play nice".

Let's keep going Ed and say everything that should be said. I am not a great cyclist, nor do I purport to be. As a result, I would not belittle someone who can come in 75th at a world-class race. On the flipside, great athletes also don't say "The competition sucks - I am better than everyone else".
Now regarding your posts, why did you join cycling forums again after being booted off? Why did you sometimes mention "Ed" in your posts like you are not him (both here and as Raving Gnome at Canadian Cyclist)? Just curious! |

Just curiousity will go unsatisfied.
Besides, what does it matter to you? Fausto, or somebody like him will continue to post as long as Canadian cycling is an embarassment. You do not get the truth anywhere else. |

Ed, how can you critisize me for "hiding", when you're still talking in the 3rd person like you are not Ed. I know you will want the last word, so I will let you have it. |
