Default Downhill Races in Colorado

Hello. I'm 15, and I'm wondering about entering some downhill races here in Colorado. I have lots of experience with dirt bikes, and have just recently been getting more serious about mountain biking. I have lots of seat time. I get in at least 10 hours per week. Because I live in the suburbs, 75% of that time is urban stunt riding, then on the weekends I ride in the mountains. The problem is, I don't know which events to enter. I was thinking Winter Park, since that is my home mountain for skiing, but I wondered if somebody else had some more options.

I'm currently on a 2006 Iron Horse Maverick XC. It's really great for the urban stunts, but I have only had a little true downhill with it. The reason I want to start racing is because I rode with a friend last month that had done a few races (I forgot to ask him which ones). He had a $3500 Yeti, and when I followed him down some singletrack switchbacks I was right up on him. I think I could do pretty good at downhilling with some more practice. Apparently, I ride my bike like a motocross bike, and I can't really help that since that's kinda my background, but it seemed to work pretty good.

So can anybody point me in the right direction for races? Or even give me some tips for racing?
