Hi All,
I've been riding bikes on & off for 20 years (I'm 42) or so but never much more than a 30 minute crawl from A to B. In the last 12 months I have been riding 23kms each way to & from work & got pretty fit doing that. I just bought a 2007 Giant OCR2 & went for a 38km ride Sunday morning & loved every minute of it. Got all the gear (clip ons, lycra etc etc). I can see myself really getting into this bigtime & doing longer rides. Dont know what I have been missing all these years. Cheers, Bryan |

Good for you...When you start meeting awesome people as well, you'll kick yourself even harder.
I wouldn't worry about how much time you've 'lost' not riding, instead make for it and enjoy the time you're on the bike! ![]() |

All you need now is some good tyres on the beastie and you will love it even more, exspecially on those longer rides. |

I did get into this a long time ago.......1966 I think, unfortunately, gave it away in '72 when I got Ls for a motor bike. I'd reckon I did about 20 kls between '72 & 2002.
Then for some unknown reason, we cleaned up the shed. For a bigger unknown reason, an old mountain bike which had been sitting around for 10 years actually held air in the tyres. Now for the biggest unknown reason of all, I rode the bugger 300 metres. From that day in 2002 till today I've traveled 26000 kls, & frankly, just can't get enough of it. Edit:- To prove how keen [stupid] I am, yesterday arvo a strong Southerly wind arrived which sent everyone except me looking for shelter............ I went for a 43 k ride which included 2 exposed bridges. Took several minutes longer than usual. Never saw another cyclist Last edited by Albert 50 : 09-10.-2006 at 08:26 PM. |
