Default Sydney to Gong Profile map

Hi all

Has anyone taken a look at the MS Gong ride profile map (elevation)? the Gong ride website has the map at:

http://www.msaustralia.org.au/nswvi...evation-map.jpg

Now has anyone got any idea what the actual elevations on the various hills are?
thanks
Cheers all.

Previously discussed and apparently there's some errors in that profile map.

As a reference, the crest at Waterfall station is around 250m above sea level.

I think there'll be a few of us who'll carry our GPS to log the track. We'll see how it all matches. Alternatively you can go to bikely.com and find the mapped track and see what kind of elevation profile it generates.

There's a "Sydney to the Gong" map on Bikely.
http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Sydney-to-the-Gong
Whilst Bikely's elevation is not always 100%, you get a general idea of what to expect on the day.

The highest point of the day, appears to be just a little bit higher than that of the hill from Churchpoint to Terry Hills. I rode via that hill yesterday, and it wasn't that hard to climb.

Happy Riding

Looking at the Bikely profile... I feel the pain of those who want to ride back to Sydney.

sogood - I totally agree with you.
What with the 25Km I will be riding to get to St Peter's in the morning, riding the Gong both ways would be a little bit challenging! I'll be sensible and take the train back to the city.

Is the train ticket back to Sydney included in the registration? Would we have to buy the ticket after we get to the station? Is there a bike lockup or minding service for people to take a wash room break?

I had a look at http://www.131500.com.au/outandabou...?events_id=2178
It appears that the trains back are a regular service, so the train fare home would probably be a seperate cost. It'll only be $9 though.
I just had a chat with a friend, who used to work for the railways. They reckon you could probably buy a single ticket home, from any station earlier on in the day.

Enough time spent mucking around on the web - I've got to get on my bike & get some things done.
