Anyone know of a good 80km ride in or around Perth- preferrably a return trip or if 1 way with public transport back.

There are maps of the bike path network here: http://www.dpi.wa.gov.au/cycling/ Around the river is good.

Yogie I have cue sheets for 2 100km Audax rides both starting and finishing at Deepwater Point in excel format if they are any good to you. One goes along the river to Freo then Safety Bay Rockingham Kwinana and Medina returning via the Freeway Cycle track and the other goes Freeway Cycle track through Medina Freo then up the coast crossing the river at the windan bridge back the other side of the river down the Freeway cycle trackto Mt Henry and then Deepwater Point (this one could be suitabley shortened several ways). |

Hiya No problem tis done.... but.... a plug for Audax from where these routes originated... in Perth a great mob of people. I am only a new member of the club but have never been made to feel so welcome... even on the first outing with them when I had equipment problems and bonked badly several guys dropped back and rode with me and kept me going. They have a lot of 50/100 km rides on the calendar but also a few 200, 300, 400, and 600 km rides being a PBP year and then a 1000 km ride late in the year. The rides at the moment are all saturday rides but there is talk of adding some 50 and 100 km rides on Sundays for those who cant either get enough or ride Saturdays. Contact with the club can be made either through me or with Bjorn: chopper at pushbike dot org. We are in the process of getting a Perth region website up but not yet and of course the National site is audax.org.au |

The Audax idea is great for you as Deepwater Point is next door to Applecross, and the route directions are pretty exact and specific. If you get a 100 km route sheet, you can always shorten it to 80 kms by turning around when you get to a certain point.
The route sheets show aggregate kms and intermediate kms, e.g. it will say "turn left onto Mundijong Rd...2 kms...turn Right St ALbans Rd..." etc...
