Default Selling a new bike, 06 Trek EX 9, need advice

Hello all, I was just up at the local bike shop picking out a new ride, and the shopkeeper proposed an interesting idea to me.

He's willing to sell me a brand new 06 Trek EX 9 for dirt cheap, just to liquidate end of year inventory.

Could I post this bike on eBay and expect to get at least $2500 from it? As much as I'd like to own the bike myself, I could just sell this bike for a small profit and use the profit to pay for not-so-pricey bike that will serve its purpose well.

Any suggestions/comments would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
