Well, I'm still new, but getting into road cycling more and more. I've decided to buy a new bike. I've been doing some research, and last weekend tried out the 2004 Trek 1500 and a 2003 Bianchi Giro. I really like the Giro, but this is the first time I will have spent decent money on a bike. Can anyone tell me the best place (online is fine) to order one of these Bianchi's? I've found it locally on sale for $1300, but I really wanted to stay down closer to under $1000. THoughts?

The retail price for the Giro is $1499.99. Your looking for 1/3 of the price, good luck!

Consumer's Reports did a rating on 2003 model road bikes at around $1000. The top one was the Bianchi Eros at $1050 retail. Second was the Klein Q-Carbon at $1,400, the LeMond Tourmalet at $1,100 (but I've seen them routinely for $950 locally), the Trek 1200, the Giant OCR1, the Raleigh Grand Prix at $900, rated a "Best Buy," the Specialized Sequoia Expert at $1100, the Fuji Newest, and the Cannondale R400, but at around $825. I just checked out the Trek 1500 at their web site. If you upgrade the front derailleur to a 105 inplace of the stock Tiagra, you will have a very good bike for a little over $1100. Well. No matter now. I rode the Giro again along with a 2004 Trek 1500. The Bianchi just seemed like a tighter, more solid bike. I liked it enough to go ahead and buy it. We'll see. Hopefully it will do well for me.
