Question fixie touring

i'm planning on not paying rent this summer and living on my bike, some of the time just in town and some of the time touring (probably just up and down the west coast). I know someone who has done a fixie tour and he just had a front rack, mess bag and a low 60s gear. I didn't get to talk to him much about the front rack so i'm wondering if anyone out there has any suggestions as to what kind of rack i should get? i'm also open to any general suggestions. oh yeah i'll probably put a brake on too .

brake is a good idea, your legs/knees will have enough work to do hauling you and yo' stuff around all day. unless you need a front rack to supplement a back rack i would avoid it. how much do you plan on carrying?

i'll try to put a pic up of my fixed commuter with back rack and bags
