1998 was the record.
The riders abandon long before any promoter would take action. Action that promoters NEVER take. Nobody get 'kicked out' of a TDF. Raimundas Rumsus quietly disappeared after his podium prizes in 2002---w/o much media hype about his wife's drugs. Dario Frigo quietly went AWOL after his wife & team drugs were arrested in 2004. Promoters answer to sponsors and underwriters. NOT to WADA, UCI, or fans. Promoters promote. Dope control is NOT part of that function. |
