Default illness on taper?

hi all,
i have been feeling by turns terrible, very tired, cold and sniffy and then ok just ab it dopey in the last few days mostly towards the end of training and directly after then i feel ok after my gym session later int he day.

BUT today i went out for my intervals and flew out then as soon as i hit the first int i was feleign crap, hr wouldn't go above 91% then on my second set not above 85% started feeling powerless and cold. COuld be 'cos i dint eat any brekkie because i was planning on doing turbo then breakfast but i melted the roller on the turbo so i went on the road instead! DOes the fact that i couldnt get my hr up and that i had no power and that i feel tired suggest illness or overtraining (i had a really hard weekend so this week has been light - mon recovery tues turbo weds 2hr recovery pace ride today intervals) i have a race next sunday 11th and i CAN't be ill!

any ideas/miracle cures?
PS my housemates are coughing retching sickly fat arses i try my best not to share any plates cutlery etc but im worried i got summat off them. I take vitc, zinc and a mulit vit. recently i have been dropping a bit of weight (not dieting but not forcing myself ot eat)

is this stuff catching up with me like when business execs get ill on their hols?

First there is no miracle cures and you have a problem with your recovery.

In the winter months your are trapped with others and exposed to many potential pitfalls. In addition, the variation in temp and workouts without recovery will lead to illness. Not eating breakfast is a bad idea you need to be properly fueled before a hard interval workout not doing so will effect your workout and your ability to recover. So you need to look at your time between efforts and how you recover ie nutrition sleep etc. because what you are doing now will not work. Good luck

thanks for the tips. I felt really upset today too my housemates were pissing me off so ihave hopped on a train and come home from uni. got some good food in me (wholewheat pancakes with spinach cottage cheese and ham) gonna get some good sleep and a decent few meals in me that should help. Is there any point taking any mulivits ( iheard a massive vit c hit just as you feel ill helps?) i changed up my recovery nutrition and moved away from whey for a bit but i feel i should return to it as it is supposed to have immunosupportive properties.

I struggle to keep on weight as it is so going without breakfast was stupid especially considering ihave all day to train. I have been chilling in my room with incese today!

I wish i could help you over the internet but I feel everyone has to be handle on a one on one basis. School makes things harder with exposer, stress etc. but a multi is not bad and is good for overall health mega doses of any vit only with doctors suppervision. As far as protien yes you should add that back into a recovery drink and most products on the market are pretty good. In your case you need to eat some good quality food and space them out eat 3-5 meals it will do the most good I think for you. If you keep getting sick again and again or have constant fatigue see a doctor. I have my athelets measure morining heart rate, blood pressure and hydration levels each morning and I chart them to see if they are running them selves down etc. Checking your pule wood be a great start. and eat damit
