Default Have you ever lied on an application and got away with it?

For my current job and a recent application for an apartment, I sort of "lied" because I did not state that I have a felony. If my current employer finds out I have a felony, I guess I'd be fired but my recruiter who got me this job did a background check on me through a national background check firm and I came out clean (no felony)! Because of that, I'm now saying on applications that I have no felony. And this really matters because as I'm looking for an apartment in Texas and the Apt Complexes are asking if I have a felony and I'm saying no so I can get a good apartment. Gee, my life is a bit difficult with my felony and I've lost more than 6 job opportunities because of it.

Have any of you lied on any application and got away with it or got caught? Please post your experiences! What did you lie about?

Yes, once I lied about being an airline pilot and another time about my skills as a brain surgeon. With the airline job I skidded off the runway on my first flight so I was found out that way. The brain surgeon was another matter. When I asked for the scalpel I was standing at the wrong end of the patient. Hey, how was I to know? it was my first operation.

Between your racist comments as of late, and now your confession of lying about being a felon on applications, you're just a complete asshole.

Let me guess, you got arrested and did time for statutory rape and/or lewd and lascivious act with a child under 16?

Seriously though, just piss off and quit posting here.

I don't see what the problem is? It's unlikely an apartment would do a criminal background check. They will probably be content with just a credit check. If they do check then they will not give you the apartment. If they give you the apartment then they will never check again. The only thing you have to worry about in the latter case is your propensity to keep talking about your felony.

Just apply to multiple apartments until one accepts.

Hey Scotty Dog you're the one who's a complete asshole. I got my felony for punching a senior citizen who I thought was following me around / spying / harassing me because my employer made me paranoid by spying on me after work. If I punched this guy in NY then no felony.

In Houston, TX - many aprtment complexes ask if you ever had a felony and they do background checks. So where's a guy to live?

Bro Deal - applying to multiple apartments gets expensive especially when they charge a $35 to $40 application fee!

I never knew Houston was so picky about felons getting an apartment!

My money is being sucked up by the hotel bill!

haha you punched an old person, I've lied on app's about getting fired from jobs, I am convinced they never call anyway. I know people with similar problems I say just lie about if, if they dont check you get the job, apt.. whatever if they check you dont. If you tell them the truth you also probably wont get it.

Hery Scotty, I never made any recent racist comments either. I just stated a fact that Africa is a seriously fucked up place and that's just a big fact and not a racist statement. Take Zimbabwe for example with that Mugabe dictator problem. Then the big African AIDS problem. Then Africans making slaves of Africans in this day! Truly, Africa is one big fucked up place!

There's a multiple-felon living there now. Compared to him, what JTE83 did was chump change.

You THOUGHT he was following you? And I'm sure the best way to take out your fear was to just go and knock the shit out of the guy.

Yea, real normal...if I owned an apartment, and knew that you had that kind of felony...I would think you were a phsyco.

Hey - your the idiot who doesn't know the circumstances... My employer spied on me after work with people following me around after work. Then they made fun of me at the company Xmas party then fired me 2 weeks later. So I puch a guy at McDonalds thinking he was one of these spies that followed me around and he turned out to be a senior citizen. Felony in IL but not in NY.

Well, dumb arse, you were in Illinois.

And that's funny about the company sending folks out to spy on you. Right. All companies must do that. You really are paranoid.

It's too bad the old man you violated didn't own the rest of your life.

Houston has to deal with a lot of New Orleans transplants, some of whom are criminals. You know, people with assault records..... Their murder rate went up like 25% after Katrina, so yes, they are picky.
