Default Getting Hit By a Car: Sooner or Later: Yes

If you ride alot and over a period of years, you will eventually
be hit, it may or may not be a serious hit, maybe just a little
bump. I was hit from behind, broke 3 ribs, punctured my
lung and I ended in the hospital. Take this advice:
If you do get hit, even bumped, get a lawyer.
The person that hit me had the lowest requirement
of insurance required by law in the State of Florida.
I made 25,000 from the accident, got paid about
3 years later. Even if you get bumped, if you get
a lawyer, you should make some money. Any damage
to your bike or to your body is grounds to sue. Don't
make the mistake of not suing. You will not have to
pay the lawyer, he will take the case "up-front".....,
he will get paid when the settlement happens.

If you didn't have insurance...

I've not been hit yet, but I come close. You have to constantly pay attention to your surroundings, and know how to avoid people swerving in front of you.

Getting hit by a car: NO!!!

The only time I got hit by a car (actually he shot out of a driveway into my path) I was 8 years old. I bumped into the car and did a fall, but children are quite sturdily engineered and there was no real damage. At the time I thought it was my fault (I never told my parents for fear they would not let me ride any more).

Since then (I am 50 now) I had very few near misses and no hit. I had no near misses in decades either. The key is defensive riding. I fully intend to keep riding and not get hit until I fall from the bike on my own.

I'm not sur I agree that sue, sue, sue is the motto I want to adapt, no offense meant. My Pop's a lawyer, I grew up around lawyers, but I don't believe in sueing for everything. If it's just a way to get somebody else's money without working for it, you may be able to do it, but it's not really, well, I hate to say it, but, it's not moral.

Hell, if you're hurt and someone else was neglectful and the money is proportionate to what your injuries have cost you, go for it. But if we all just sue eachother because we can, it's basically legal but unethical robbery.

My 2 cents.
