I have organised a "rag tag" bunch of Fiji roadies and we call our little club the Velocity Cycling Club. We all have bikes (I think Fiji is the place where old steel frames go to retire - not die) and the LBS has a good supply of gear... however one thing that is VERY difficult and expensive is cycling shoes. The LBS cannot afford to have a huge range and sizes for such a small market.
With SPD-SL cleats costing around half a weeks wages here, an entry level pair of shoes costs more than some of my guys bikes. I buy shoes wherever possible on aus ebay but the postage (approx AU$20 - FJ$30) can double the cost in some cases. Here's the ask... Dig around in your "bike stuff box" or wherever you keep your treasure trove of old, used, unused, upgraded stuff, and see if there's an old pair of shoes (tri shoes also welcome) that you'd be prepared to let a young Fijian cyclist make use of. Pedals and cleats (SPD-SL and Look) are very much sort after here as well... even if the cleats only have a few Kms left on them. I have a bank account in Oz and I'd be happy to pay for postage and add couple of beers to say cheers. Here's a pic of the Velocity Cycling Club guys. We do have more girls too but they weren't around at the time. ![]() Vinaka Vakalevu (thanks a bunch) Dom PS. Front and back lights are in short supply here too... while you're looking ![]() |

I've got a pair of Diadora road shoes (almost new) size 44 or 45 IIRC.. I can stick my current cleats on them too as I'm just about to switch to fresh ones (plenty of kms left on them).
So.... you're saying it'll cost $20 in postage to 'donate' them? |

Can we batch some up? I have an old pair of Lakes (not worn much) that I'd donate, and some SPD-SL cleats that are fine for road riding (just ... don't do hillsprints in them!) |

I have a pair of small Nikes (Eur 40 apparently) with SPD cleats that I'll add to the pile. No idea if anyone in Fiji has such small feet...) Zebee |

Postage is usually around $20 +/- (insured) from Sydney to Fiji. It may vary depending on weight, size of package and location. Ask Aus Post what it'll cost or send me the receipt. I'm happy to remburse you for postage. The Diadoras sound great. I've two guys that wear 44 if you're willing to part with then.... and the cleats would be an addred bonus. PM me with the post price and I'll send you my email and postal address. Cheers gplama |

PM me and let me know the cost post (insured). ![]() Not on cycling forums, so can't. I suggest that we pool the shoes in cities. Anyone else in Sydney with some? If not I'll send them over alone. I THINK I've got a spare set of mountain bike shoes with cleats, that I'd be happy to send over.... They're smallish (38 or 39 - will confirm later), so would suit a young kid or a woman.
Let me know if you're intersted? |

Yup - size 48, 2-strap SPD-SL with tired Look cleats. I'm coming to town on Sunday for the rock-for-rights gig if that helps at all. gm |

Might even be able to scrounge up a couple of odd LED lights as well. I will volunteer to be the shoe collector in Melbourne if no one else has already done so......I commute in from Viewbank to Southbank every day and could probably arrange pickups from either somewhere in the city at lunchtime or within a reasonable distance of my commute home. If Llama and Bleve want to get in touch I can probably arrange something as I think they are both out my way.....anyone else who is keen to contribute to the collective box of smelly shoes then let me know.
