Default Twin disc front hub?

Just curious: has any manufacturer experimented yet with a twin disc front hub? Anyone ever hear of it?

My first thought is double the disc and caliper weight.

On 26" wheels there's a long way to go yet before running out of disc diameter, do a bigger disc would do the job without all the extra hardware and plumbing.

Hayes have just come out with a 9" rotor, so there ya go.

Just thinking of like a 29er application, where dual rotors might possibly yield an advantage? The hub shell would be fairly easy to manufacture, just have to find a fork with dual mounts.
If motorcycles use 'em, why not DH bikes? An extra 70g ti disc and caliper isn't that much more on such bikes.

Thanks for the link to that thread, I missed it. Interesting that someone (Shimano) put dual discs on the same side, with 3 pads in the caliper. Kinda like RAID for braking, eh?
