Recently I put a doulbe crankset on my road bike. When I took off the triple I used the same bottom bracket, 68x118. This made the left crank slightly farther out from the right, but not much.
Then I checked the Shimano specs for my crank (Tiagra) and it said to use a 68x110. A friend at a bike shop gave me a bottom bracket to use. It was a 73x110, but he said if I switch cups then the shell width changes. So, a 73x110 with a 68x110's cup becomes a 68x110. I believed him and had it put on. Only now the cranks are even more uneven! It's still the same distance from the chainstay on the left and now it's been moved in on the right so far it practically rubs! This can't be right. My bike shop friend didn't give me the right BB, did he? |
