Does anyone do the Kurnell ride at night?
I'm not an early riser, and am missing my midweek rides but am not too sure about Kurnell at night.. Anyone care to share any experience? |

Hi Im_ads,
First post so dont know if this will work, and still bit of newbie to cycling. Might not be able to help much but better than no replies. Have you checked out bikely.com for routes in the Shire? you might find some better ones to do at night - for example, I commute through Taren Pt at night and it is deserted with nice wide streets and Sylvania Waters also good. of course, bit featureless in terms of hills etc. Alternatively, if you live that end of the Shire, I've also found that riding around Cronulla Pt (Sth Cronulla, Bass & Flinders Pt, Gunnamatta Bay, etc) at night to be pretty good (10ks or so as opposed to 30k out and back to Kurnell) Sorry cant give any advice on Kurnell - only ever ridden that one during the day. My point isnt about a shortcut to Kurnell - as you know from your Sydney address - that would probably involve a swim for most people!
![]() just offering alternatives that might be more pleasant at night in same location. interested in other opinions as well though. |

thanks stewieC.. bit of a newbie myself so no worries there..
I ended up biting the bullet last night and got out there.. it was great - only a handful of other cyclists.. no more cars than on the weekends.. and with a good pair of front and rear lights, there was no visibility problems for me or the other cyclists/motorists.. you'd be crazy to do it without a good quality front light though - too many bumps and ditches etc.. I'll be a regular Kurnell night rider methinks.. ![]() |
