I've been researching a 3 day bike tour to the coromandel now for a while, and the biggest obstacle is getting out of Auckland.
So, a few questions : What's the best way to get from the North Shore to Papakura? Are we permitted to cycle on state highways? Do backpacker lodges come with beds and blankets? How effective is washing yourself with soap in the sea?

Hey there. Shouldn't you be in the Trademe site?
I sometimes work with a guy who cycles from West Auckland to Turanga - in ONE day!! I don't think he races through the year but he does criteriums in the summer(A grade rider) and rides to work & back a lot of the year, which includes riding over the Waitakeres to get home. Happy riding, Paul ![]() |
