I have been trying to sell the Gordonson for a few months, all new bits on a 30 year old steel frame, with no joy.
I have been quoted a good price for sand blasting and powder coating, 2 colours no extra $, so which colours? Eagles or Dockers?

Decision time has been reached!
I have just drilled and tapped the BB tube for a cable guide. Later today: Welding the RD Cable Lug UNDER the chain stay, then an 11 tooth sprocket can be used. Wednasday: Strip and clean the frame. Thusday: Cold Setting the rear drop out to 130mm so a modern 130mm 700c Road Wheel will fit. Friday: The frame is off the the sand blasters... more later... ![]()

George, I'm in Perth too and I've just ordered the last bit I need to build my single speed. The frame is an old steel job and I have been tossing up whether to get it sandblasted and powder coated or just clean it up myself and take to it with a couple of spray cans. Who is going to do your frame? Cost? (And I would go for the Western Force colours for your bike - might even paint/powdercoat mine the same) SteveA |

Hi Steve,
As I don't have a car, I picked two places (in Bayswater) within walking distance of home, both have experience with bikes. The Yellow Pages was the best place to start. The sand blasting quote is $25-30, the powder coating is $30-35 (I do the masking). I have decided to do some small parts as well, so it may be a few more $$. I am taking the frame (by train) into my LBS for the cold setting of the rear end tomorrow and hopefully stop off at the sand blaster on the way home. I am still undecided on colour, probably gloss black or dark blue, I will decide on the day. I gave away a crankset the other day for a fixie. http://www.triwa.org.au/bb/viewtopic.php?t=1178

Bike sort of looked like something the guys at the beaches around here ride. Some kind of teal color with white accents would be cool.

The frame is spending the weekend at the Sand Blasters.
Last week my LBS spread the rear stays to 130mm (from 124). While there, I ran the die over the steerer tube thread, all good. The bottom bracket needed more thread to be tapped in order to accept a sealed BB Cartridge. The new wheels I have are a "replcement" alloy 27x1 1/4. The rear comes with a spin on hub and two alloy spacers of 2.5mm thick so it fits into frames with 124-130mm drop out ok. This means I can fit a 7 speed spin on MF cassette (11-28) on the axle. I doubt if an 8 speed spin on would fit and my choice of 8 speed MF cassettes is limited to 13-24 and 13-28. The drive train will be upgraded to Shimano TX, front and rear. Shifters, microSHIFT rapid fire (like Sram) and the colour will be black, Frame, Forks, Seat Post and Bars. I have found retro pedals, saddle and brake levers in a catalogue, they will arrive in a week or so. More with Pix later... ![]()
