Im fairly new to riding, but i feel that most times when i ride my right index finger gets numb (mostly on the pad but today it even went down the side a little.) I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem and any solutions. I have tried different gloves and i make it a point to switch my hand positions a lot. I find that on the brake hood causes the most problems. Thanks

1) stem too long, meaining you're stretching to reach the handlebars too much and too much weight forward and over onto your hands... a good starting point is in the drops you should be able to touch your elbow to your knee of get pretty close 2) seat is angled down.. meaning you're sliding forward onto your hands and putting too much pressure on your hands... if you put a level on your seat it should be horizontal and when riding no hands you shouldn't feel like you are sliding forward of have to use any pressure from your legs to keep you in place |

both of those sound correct also one other thing your steerer tube may not be long enough or your seat hieght may be to high. If that doesn't solve the problem then maybe the strap on your gloves is too tight.
