Default 10/20 Intervals

Is there truth in the 10/20 Intervals?

This is where after a 30 to 45 minute warm-up you do 10 seconds all out sprint then 20 seconds easy spinning and repeat for ten minutes. The idea is is the short sprints and rests create greater breathing rates and bigger fluctuations of wattage with out having as much muscle damaging acidosis.
