Man, the day after hard rides I'm ruined. I have been pushing myself very hard, and reaping the rewards...But I feel mostly useless on recovery days. I notice that zone1 type rides make me feel much better, but I still need a gallon of coffee to keep my eyelids open.
I don't know if I'm really looking for a solution, or just want to bitch to some people who can sympathize! hahahaha Well all comments are welcome. Thanks, r |

Depend of a lot of things. From my own experience after a hard rides, if you have a good night of sleep you should be fine. Feeling asleep is not that much related to muscle tiredness.
However if you only ride once a week and suddenly you get a really hard ride (If you are a beginner and your body is not adapted to that kind of effort)....then maybe. But I guess you have a good training schedule and that it is not your case. BTW, you don't have my sympathy. If that was a really hard ride, then I'm sure it has been beneficial to you and that will help you get improvement. You may have my respect for having hard rides, but not sympathy because they make you tired |

Sorry, I guess I should've said empathize
. Yeah I've noticed great benefits of long sleep. My eight hours doesn't leave me feeling rested. I think I need ten hours of sleep for these hard days, especially when I have several hard days a week! The worse thing (or one of the worse things) is when I'm pooped like this, and when I have sore muscles to boot I tend to eat like a horse with the munchies! ![]() |

You are not getting to the point of recovery that you need. It may be nutrition or sleep. You may also be adding to many hard days with no recovery. Try adding a nap midday to start if you can. Becareful not to get overtrained
