What sideof town are you at? I'm at broadway and harrison. I usually go on a solo ride on saturdays. Sundays, lately anyways, I've been joining the GABA rides.

I've been looking for a partnet myself. Let me know if your interested ...

Tucsonans UNITE!!!! I'm in Tucson, but I just started training and I don't think I'm quite ready to go on group rides or anything. I've heard that GABA is probably the recommended group to hook up for group rides. They have a website, lemme find it........

GABA information here.

hey whats up TomDavis, i just did my 1st group ride ever(never rode group)
with gaba sunday and it was fast & fun. when you can
do the miles dont worry about speed, just ride
with a group at your ability, or a little better, rideing
with faster riders makes you a faster rider, we did 73 miles
in 3hours 15 min being new you will find lots of good
info here, i been rideing 4 yrs hit a plateau and didnt get
any faster or more fit till i came here good luck
with your rideing!

I actually ended up joining the Full Cycle/Saguaro Velo group rides for a month or so before the El Tour 35 mile race. Seriously, I'd recommend riding in groups and in races and you're right, they do help but you have to be careful about burning yourself out if you ride everyday, don't go with a group that's too fast. The Saguaro Velo group is awesome because if you get a flat, they have a support truck which will help you change your flat tire fast which has saved my behind on several occasions. See ya around and of course, you may have seen me riding on Oracle on a few occasions with a red biker shirt. "The Red Baron" I like to call myself, hehe.

I got 8th in the El Tour, not bad for a first race. Did just under 1 hour and 30 minutes. I do plan on going on long rides when I come back from Christmas break and entering several cycling events. You managed to finish 22nd with 2 flats??? Damn, you're good. I think Saguaro Velo may still be doing their group rides, I'm not sure, but they tend to do 40-60 or so miles on their rides, not too fast, just average pacing and a good place for a beginner to start. If I wanted to now, I'd murder them with a very fast pace. I've improved a lot in the past 3 months since I started cycling training seriously.
