well i have now been inducted into the realms of a "road racer". I had my first road race yesterday, The state championships for my first race, as they say, a batism of fire..After all the training i was doing to prepare myself for the event, i was sitting quite well for the first 50km's, watching everyone and taking all the things on board that my coach had been telling me to prepare for and watch.... Turn around point came and i fell to the back a bit cause of the morons marshalls not advising where to turn round.. moved up a bit in the pack to sit mid pack. was comfortably thinking i was doing ok, then began to drift back a bit, and didnt think anythign of it as i had been drifting thru the pack all race.....I then learnt the meaning of the term "dropping the hammer" and why it is important not to be at the back of the pack when it occurs.... I was gone, and unable to catch up....
Moral of the story: Spend as much time at the front of the pack as possible if you are not strong. |

It's a chicken and the egg type of argument isn't it? If you are not strong, then how can you stay at the front? If you are strong, then you won't get dropped anyway. ![]()
