Hi,
I'm new to this bike buying stuff, my head's done in and I'm frozen by analysis paralysis. I can't make up my mind between the following:Avanti Carbonio Elite (I think its an '05 model), full carbon, full Ultegra, Mavic Ksyrium wheelset, $3k; Pinarello Galileo, aluminium with carbon rear & fork, full Ultegra, R550 wheelset, $3.1k; Azzuri Primo, full carbon, full Ultegra, R550 wheelset, $2.8k Bianchi Via Nirone, aluminium with carbon seat stay & fork, Campag Veloce, Ambrosio wheels, $2.6k. I suspect that any of them would be just fine, but I'd be grateful for comments or suggestions. I don't race, it's just commuting and training. I may do a triathlon or two this summer. The romantic would like to try Campy gear but it's not driving the decision. I want a good bang for buck, but more importantly something that I won't be wanting to replace inside 5 years. |

Well after pouring over the above bikes, I went for....none of them.
Another LBS gave me a $700+ discount on a Scott CR1 Pro under the '08 model preorder, so I'm stoked but busting to get my new bike which won't be here until late Sept. I can't wait. My first serious bike. Thanks for all the advice. ![]() |
