Hey all. Newbie here looking for a hybrid bike mainly to get to and from work. Will be trekking approximately 3 miles each way on pavement. I am looking for a bike priced anywhere from 400-600 bucks. Any suggestions? So far I am thinking a Specialized Globe, Trek 7.3, or Fuji Sunfire. I am about 5'11", 195 lbs, and quite fit... Anyway, what is the consensus about buying a bike online provided one does a lot of research? Any particularly good sites to buy a bike from? I have not had much looking finding any... Bike shops seems to be a ripoff. Nevermind the elitist attitude to anyone not buying a bike for at least a grand.
Thanks for any and all help! |

I live in England so the bike i would recommend is likely not available in the USA but if you want to take a look at any pics of my choice they can be found at evanscycles.com and search for the Pinnacle Aurora 2.0 Hybrid bike. I ride a 30 mile round trip to work and back each day and have found the bike perfect for my needs but as have increased my mileage over time by riding more in my free time i am now in the market for a top quality road bike which will hopefully let me find out how fast i can actually go rather than being limited by the quality and type of bike i am riding. A friend of mine had a very similar bike to The Pinnacle i am recommending which was made by Trek and although im not sure of the details of the specific model i would guess that if you take a look at the Pinnacle on the website i mentioned and then search for Trek Hybrid bikes you would then be able to find it quite easily. The only difference between the Trek and the Pinnacle that i found was that the Treak was noticeably heavier which was possibly because it was made in 2006 rather than being this years model as the Pinnacle is.
Hope at least some of this info is useful to you |
