Default Dehydrated...What?

So, I recently set out to increase my water consumption. I think I have been slightly dehydrated my whole life preferring to drink anything but bland water. So slowly I increase my straight water consumption to 1/2 a gallon a day and now for the last 2 weeks am up to my goal of 1 gallon or about 4 liters.

I know I must be washing out some important electrolytes. How do I replenish them properly?

Now to my problem:

I rode twice this week, both times felt really weak AND for the first time in recent memory got 'cheese' mouth with nasty cheese crud on the side of my mouth. This morning my mouth was glued shut. Went online and, yup, classic sign of dehydration. What? How? Why? My ride was only about 60min and not even that tough...

Help?

If you are doing a gallon a day with only a 60 minute work out you may be over doing it. It sounds like you may be washing to much good stuff out of your system. I know I take in about 24 ounces and hour on a 2 1/2 hour ride in 95 degree heat. Some times a little more. I take 99mg potassium and some times a multivitamin. But most of all I try to eat the right foods for a work out.

If you feel really weak go consult your doctor otherwise you'd get into trouble.

I'm super strong in the gym though, especially this week! Go figure.
