Hi All,
I'm crossing over from mountain biking to road riding. I am in the market for a road bike. I don't envisage riding the Tour de France but I’m looking for a decent bike for long road rides. I will be doing the 100Km ride from Southbank to Southport in Brisbane in 4 weeks time. Can I please get some feedback on the following bike? It's the 2007 model and retail for $2500 however they are on special for $2000. This one is second hand and I can get it for $1000. Specs are;
Frame - Shogun 6061 compact frame with carbon rear seat stay
Fork - Carbon
Front Derailleur - Shimano Ultegra
Rear Derailleur - Shimano Ultegra
Crankset - Shimano Ultegra
Shifters/Brake Levers - Shimano Ultegra 10 speed
Cassette - Shimano 10 spd 12-25T
Wheelset - Shimano R550
Tyres - Maxxis Xenith Deux Categorie 700 x 20C
Brakes -Shimano Ultegra
Seatpost - Tioga Carbon
Seat - Tioga CR-MO |

I don't know much about Shogun, but the compenents are good - Ultegra is excellent, 550 wheels are nice and sturdy and look good as well, 6061 Al supposed to be pretty tough.
Are you buying it from a shop? check if it is the right size for you. There are lots of threads on this forum that discuss sizing and a lot of useful places on the net, and don't forget your local bike shop. Southbank to Southport sounds like a good ride. |
