Unhappy Stolen bike - need replacement

Hi all,

Just had my bike stolen from the train I caught to get home tonight - needless to say, I'm now left thinking, "I need a bike!". And I've not actually bought a bike before, since the one I've just had half-inched was my dad's old bike.

So would anyone be so good as to suggest a bike that fits the following criteria?

1. 26" wheels to match my other half's bike
2. No suspension since I only cycle on roads
3. Around the £300 mark

Many thanks,

Russ
