Default Searching for a new bike...i need lots of help!

Hello to all!

Well, as you see i am looking for a new bike...purpose...well i will be using the bike for anything and everything...training / commuting / tri's (first tri's will come next spring)...i basically want the bike to handle anything and everything...

my price range limit is 3k...no higher...i'm 57' and 130 lbs...and im looking for a light, stiff, comfortable, great bike haha that will also stand the test of time lasting atleast 5 yrs since that is how old my current bike is...

i went to the local LBS and found this...
Cannondale Synapse Carbon SL2 (53cm)...the bike retails at 2,899 and
it was reduced to like 2,599...the guy told me that he would give it
to me for 2k b/c the owner just wants to get rid of it b/c they
special ordered it for a guy and he f*ck them over...

...he told me since i had planned to use this bike for anything and
everything (including Tri's) he would replace the current set of
handle bars b/c they have a larger top for comfort and TT bars wont
fit that...he was going to throw on a good solid set of bontrager
bars...(no i dont get to keep the stock bars)

...the bike also had bontrager race lights wheels and a set of
bontrager tires...he told me they are a solid set of wheels but would
suggest me upgrading to something a little more solid that can handle
anything and everything...so i picked out the Mavic Ksyrium Elite
wheels with a good set of tires...i think contential grand prix force
and attack 700 c...the wheels, tires, and tube for 500$...(again, no i wouldn't get to keep the stock wheels)

then i was going to get a set of clip on TT bars...they are the Carbon
Stryke (ironman bars)...full cf...and they are 144$...

finally, a set of shimano ultegra PD-6610 pedals...118$

so how does this look?

i was also suggested such bike at the Madone 5.1, Fuji Team Pro, Kretal, Cervelo...but i dont know the difference...

and im also wonder...since im not in a rush and dont plan to use the bike until the spring of 08'...could i slowly build a bike and get much more for my money?

also, if you think there is something that is better for the price please let me know, but in doing so would you mind explaining why? again i need as much help as i can get...

thanks!
