Default hybrid advice-used devinci sydney or new kona dew plus

Hey all,
Just had my old trek MTB with slicks stolen and need a bike for commuting all over the city. Toronto has some rough roads (with the streetcar tracks and all) so need something fairly durable.

I have a line on a 4 or 5 year old Devinci Sydney or I'm looking at a new Kona Dew Plus. The Kona is a bit less but I just want to get what's right.

Any opinions?
