I'm a new to cycling and am going for endurance - not a race, though, so I'm not sure I'm puting this in the correct category.
My girlfriend and I want to move from California to North Carolina in 3 years and have decided to bike there. Neither of us are in great shape (ESPECIALLY me), so we're looking for a training regimen to help guide us to get in shape so that in 2006 we can make the trip. We've already thought about a few options for mini-trips to get used to the travel and riding long distances, but haven't nailed the training part. If anyone has any ideas on how to assist in training for something like this, it would be very much appreciated. |

basically, you should start with a set # of miles per week, and build them up gradually. be consistent from week to week. if you're new, start out with 1-2 longer rides and 2-3 recovery rides. when you're comfortable with that, add more miles to your riding program. the miles depend on how much your body is comfortable doing.
