Default What is a rear disc worth in terms of speed?

I'm considering making the change to a rear disc. I'm wondering what has been others' experience with regard to increased speed, decreased speed, or no significant difference versus using a deep dish spoked wheel - everything else being equal.

FYI, I race exclusively in an indoor velodrome.

There was a similar thread to this on www.fixedgearfever.com a little while ago. I think the general consensus was that it was worth about 0.1 to 0.2 sec over a flying 200m compared to standard 32 spoke wheels. So I guess it would be worth less compared to a deep-rimmed carbon wheel.

Like a lot of things in cycling (nutrition products, equipment etc.), I think people are too afraid NOT to use one, even though the difference cannot really be measured. (You could throw me into that example!)

Thanks for the reply - Jack-O!

That's a significant difference! A tenth or two in a sprint easily justifies the cost in my book. Gotta get me one...
