Default How will the Olympics affect the TdF?

Will riders try to maintain peak through the Tour and the Olympics?

It seems like the Giro riders (Italians) have it nice. They can peak for the Giro, take a break, and peak again for the Olympics.

If you are Cancellara what do you do?

yeah, they can do it, they just stash away a heap of blood, and either focus on the rr, or their tt threshold.

I don't think the calendar is ideal for Italians... Don't forget the World championship is in Italy.
And that goes for Cancellara too. I wouldn't say he's worried about the Tour... He can skip it, he can ride it till mountains, check himself in that firs TT, use flat stages for good training. I think he's more worried about maintaining the form between Olympic games and World championship. Almost impossible.

Good that the medals of these major events will be shared by more riders.
