Default Former cyclist/triathlete

Hey all-

I raced triathlons and bikes on my college team in the mid/late 80's (Raced a few age group triathlons with Lance Armstrong, actually..) Did some mountain biking after that, but haven't really been on a bike in 15-20 years. I want to start riding again, and been looking at used bikes on my local craigslist.

My price range is $300-500, and I'd like a semi-comfortable ride that is ok if it gets beat up a little. I've seen a few Lemond D'huez, Trek 1000's, in that price range, shimano 105 to integra components. I've been out long enough I don't know the classification of the quality (105 is entry level, correct? Dura ace the top?)

I realize I'm doing this backwards in asking before searching, but I wanted to get some thoughts from other riders while I read back posts.

Thanks for your time/thoughts!

John
