Hi everyone,
I just moved to the Detroit area and am looking for a good 1-2 day ride to do with my 60 year old father. He has done one flat century in a day before but that was pretty rough. We could drive 2-3 hours from Detroit. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks so much! |

While SE Michigan isn't the most bike friendly area around, there are some nice rides. One upcoming ride in the downriver area is the "Metro Grand Spring Tour". Another very nice ride ( very hilly) occurs every spring and fall in the Charlevoix area. Both have multiple distances up to 100 miles. |

I agree with the other poster about Detroit area bicycling. However, it may be changing for the better... I just don't know. If you are thinking of heading north, look into the rides and routes offered: http://www.cherrycapitalcyclingclub.org/ Traverse City area is much more bicycling oriented. The CCCC puts on very nice rides and has many routes around the area well mapped out on a sweat proof map.
