Hi all,
The Bike & Boat concept was developed a few years ago in the Netherlands. At its basis, a small group of cyclists visits a region biking. The pace is leasurely (average speed is 10mph), with an average distance covered each day ranging between 25 and 50 miles (40 and 80 km). After each days cycling discovery, the group joins the ship, that serves as a floating inn, at the day's port-of-call. This unique formula has now reached Canada. Three tours are offered that explore the St-Lawrence River in the Montreal and Quebec Region. You can discover more about the concept at www.latitude45n.com. We, my girlfriend and I, discovered the concept three years ago with Cycletours Holland (www.cycletours.com) and think it's the absolute best way to discover a country. Other than the Netherlands, Bike & Boat tours can now be found in France, Austria, and Belgium. Does anyone know if there is anything else like it elsewhere in North America? TBK |
