Big Fix 500. A ride to fix histiocytosis. The ride will take place on April 12-13, 2008 in Houston,TX at Alkek velodrome. This event is 24 hours long covering 500 miles. This fundraiser is an extension of the Big Fix 2006, a fixed-gear ride across the country in 27 days. The spirit of this event is remminiscent of the 6 day races of old. An absolute endurance challenge to rival the endurance of the disease.
Histiocytosis is a rare blood disorder that can affect children from in utero to about 12 years of age. As an orphan disease it garners no Federal monies and relies primarily on the private sector for research grants and treatment. For more information visit www.histio.org/bigfix500 |
