Default yet another Simoncini SLX question

Hmmmm... seems there may some experts here regarding Simoncini. I'm looking at an uber clean example for sale locally. Can anyone tell me a bit about the (apparent) vintage of this bike? The owner says its from the 80s (and I have yet to measure the rear spacing), but I somehow doubt it based on a few factors, not the least of which is the Athena group w/ergo controls; I suspect it's mid-90s and it, too, is an SLX frameset.

Default Re: yet another Simoncini SLX question

That is a very fine looking bicycle!

I cannot help you on the details, nor do I recall the times when Athena was for sale, but I can confirm that I purchased an SLX frame in 1994, so it does fit your estimated time line... I am sure you can google the time line for Campagnolo groups and get a better idea of when the Athena and the other assorted components were for sale...
