Default Getting back into it !

Finally getting back in to the cycling game after a 'lay off' of 20 years. Hoping to do the Great Yorkshire Bike Ride this year
Still got all my 'old' 80's bikes in original condition :-
Peugeot Carbon de Fibre with Shimano 600 groupset.
Raleigh 753 Time Trial Special (team Panasonic colours) Campag Super Record groupset.
Raleigh 753 Low Profile (colours as above ) Campag Super Record groupset with 24" front wheel and Campag rear disc.
Bob Jackson Low profile wheels as above with Campag Super Record groupset - minus a front mech.
I think I maybe outclassed with the current carbon frames and equipment - but give me the 'retro' ? gear any day
Next - get some miles in in prep for a few 10's this summer !

welcome back! i think its more about the rider than the bike, so as long as your bikes are in good shape, whats it matter if there out dated?

I will second Cycler6n. You will probably find yourself being outclassed by riders who are riding steel frames. To give an analogy, a 8000 hp locomotive will completely outclass a 5000 hp locomotive even if the latter is pulling coaches made of carbon fiber as opposed to the former pulling steel coaches (other factors remaining the same that is).

That's not to say that you shouldn't ride your nice carbon equipment though. Enjoy riding your bike, but focus on the engine since that is where most of the improvement is going to come from.
