I'm looking for a mountain bike seat post that tilts forward and down. I am
currently using an older model Cane Creek Thudbuster because it tilts down more than any post that I've seen. My Thudbuster is getting wobbly and I need to replace it. Cane Creek's new models don't tilt down as much. Their new setup is like a Thomson. Thomsons won't work...at least the older model that I have just won't tilt down enough. I need something that gets the nose of the saddle down. Thanks! Tommy |

The only other suspension post similar to the Thudbuster is a Moxy seatpost, but I'm not sure they are still around. |

I used to file my Thompson posts to make them fit Brooks. Why Thompson has to engineer their posts with such limited tilt is beyond me - as is Brooks' penchant for non-standard rail designs. I have an older RaceFace post whose design allows unlimited tilt. Titec's HellBent post allows a *lot* of tilt either way - especially with a longer bolt in one end or the other. -- PeteCresswell |

Thomson makes an alternate clamp head piece that allows for more tilt (or at least it used to); write or call and ask. Otherwise, stop by a local shop and check out the posts. Some models have a lot more adjustment room than others. Good luck. BS (no, really) |

After reading all of the posts, I found there are many seat posts that will tilt forward enough for me. I purchased the Titec El Norte. The person that I talked to at Jenson USA said that he thought that the Titec would work. He found one from stock and assured me that it would do the job. It's now on my bike, tilted as required. Problem solved. THANKS ALL! Tommy |

I have a brooks b17 on my cannondale badboy and just ordered a thomson elite seatpost because i found the original post (one piece forged) doesn't allow much tilt, and doesn't hold when i force it... it should arrive in a couple of days... i like a slightly more forward position so i thought an adjustable post would be better and provide more possibilities of adjustments... did i just throw money out of the window? If you mean a two-bolt adjustable post, I'd say you made a good purchase. Beeeeeg comfort diffs in very small adjustments and a micro adjustable post is the only way to get them. OTOH, Brooks' rails are goofey - in that their relationship to the saddle seems tb different from normal saddles. With my Thompson posts, I can just *barely* get enough tilt on my Brooks B-17s. A little judicious filing helps. It's been awhile since I went round-and-round with a Thompson post. It might be worth a call to Thompson to get the latest info. -- PeteCresswell |
