Hi
(Sorry, I can't find the original thread) Having read the thread about this and am pondering it myself now! Like the OP however, I'm a bit concerned about the hills, too. I reckon I could do the shorter ride but it depends on how hilly everything is as to how much I'll die! I might ask a few friends if they're up for joining me doing it. How difficult are the logistics? Getting the ferry isn't difficult, I guess, but getting to Southampton with a bike might be; I'm sort of guessing the trains will be clogged up with bikes that day! Would people recommend staying on the IoW itself, perhaps, or on the mainland? Thanks! Peter (not sure he could do it really) -- http://www.scandrett.net/lx/ http://www.scandrett.net/bike/ |

Drop me a bingy-mail if your interested in meeting up. I'm sure Jon of this parish will be up for it as well. |

Well... I ended up attacking the (short version of the) Isle of Wight Randonee on Sunday with a friend, and survived. Did my maximum distance in a day for me, too, of 41.6 miles, which I was pleased with. More info on my webpage if anyone's interested in reading it: http://www.scandrett.net/bike/2008/ride-08-09.html Thanks to those who encouraged me to do it... The bad news is the only way to make that happen is to ride up hills. :-) -- David Damerell <damerell@chiark.greenend.org.uk> Distortion Field! Today is First Sunday, May - a weekend. |

Not something I often do, but hopefully I'll do it more now we're into nice/not wet/cold weather. Been quite pleased with myself this week!
