I read in Matt Rendell's "The Death of Marco Pantani" that Pantani threw his diamond nose-stud into the mulch as he attacked with Tonkov to eventually win the stage. I was just curious if anyone ever found that. Rendell says that it is probably still lying there, but im sure someone would have stumbled across it by now. That would be worth a ton, but any true fan would find that it possesses more sentimental value.
