Mercier Corvus for cross country ride?
Hello there, I am a newbie who has never owned a road bike before. I committed to do a cross country ride for charity purposes and now I need a bike.
I have been mostly looksing online for steel frame bikes and came upon the Mercier Corvus bike. This is a good buy? would it last me through 4000 miles and not be a pain in the ass when I ride it? Thanks |

The bike is ok. Have you considered going to a local bike shop, making sure they help you with your fit, and then seeing what they have used in your size? Developing a relationship with a shop, especially if you are a newbie, is never a bad thing, and they will be able to advise you about other important aspects of your equipment, including your clothing (you will need riding specific shoes and at the very least padded cycling shorts unless not reproducing is an option for you), helmet and the choice of saddle (believe me, the latter can make or break your cycling experience!).
