I'm not planning on doing this by any means, but I was just curious what one would have to do to start a team of 1,2,3 category racers, with mainly 2's and 3's...most of which are 3's wanting to go 2 early in the season. How feasable of a sponsorship would one suspect to get? I race for a cat 3/4 team right now, with only me and another guy being 3's. We get one/two race weekends a month paid for, hotels paid for for those paid weekends, two full kits, helmets, "sponsor" shirts/hat/coat, and a cost + 10% sponsorship from our local bike shop. I would suspect an "amateur" pro team or elite team could get a better sponsorship than that. Who are the best candidates for the larger sponsorships? Would it be best to offer to pay for races or to give your team a lump sum amount to race on?
