Boris Wins! Cyclist Wins!
I'd say it was good news all round.
Cyclists: Boris is a passionate cyclist who wants to make London's infrastructure more cycle-friendly. He might even let cyclists legally jump red lights to turn left. Motorists: Unlike Red Ken, Boris is not a self-confessed car-hater. He has pledged to scrap the £25 kengestion charge, abolish the western extension to the kengestion zone, and get traffic lights rephased to improve traffic flow rather. PT Users: Boris has pledged to implement express, orbital bus services so that people who want to travel between suburbs don't have to go into and back out of the City. It seems it might get better for all road users. |

The only place where it might end up worse is in the IT systems. I'm not a fan of the policies of Ken, but I do recognise that he introduced the IT systems for the congestion charge and for the Oyster Card without too many hitches, and he is a self-confessed nerd/geek when it comes to these things. His record is way ahead of the rest Labour when it comes to IT implementation. I can't see Boris being a nerd, so I hope he has a good team when it comes to any future IT systems - if indeed he will feel the need to introduce any at ll. Colin |

Clear-sighted judgment is probably not Boris's thing. My FIL worked on the Lobster card thing, I think. Also the radio comms for the Chunnel. And the video on demand for the Boing 767 Guy -- May contain traces of irony.
